The Switzerland’s Escape ( Zürich )
“What’s so great about Switzerland? Well, the flag is a Plus” - Unknown
What do you think when you hear about Switzerland ? It must be chocolates, mountains, snow, lakes, and a lot of beautiful places that Switzerland has offered to us. On the Spring day, I decided to come to Switzerland. Actually, this trip was along with the two other cities in Switzerland, Rhine Falls and Lucerne. But this time I would like to share about my trip to Zurich only.
This was also my first time joining the Student Trip along with other students across the World who live and study within Europe. It was Friday, May 6th 2018 I packed my stuff and snacks to bring along on the trips. Because it was just 1 night and 2 days I did not bring many things with me. I took a bus to go to Utrecht Centraal Station. I chose a bus stop in Utrecht.
It took approximately 10 hours from Utrecht to Zurich, it was already a night when the bus stopped at Frankfurt and I was just having a good sleep on the bus hahahah. Finally, in the morning we arrived in the Rhine Falls, Lucerne after that we were heading to Zurich. It was a hot sunny day when we arrived at Zurich, the bus stopped in Lake Zurich.
I still remember, I was like a lost kid in the city. I don't know where to head or which places I need to visit first. I just walked away to the city center as I asked some passerby for directions. Soon, I arrived at FrauMunster Church. The Catholic Church built on the remains of a former abbey for aristocratic women which was founded in 853 by Louis the German. In front of the Church was a wide open area which has a water fountain, restaurants, and a lot of shops.
After a while, I went to the alleys in front of the FrauMunster Church. Strolling around to see what a local did. And I arrived in the shopping area in the city, of course I did not buy something, because the prices must be crazy here compared to the Netherlands. I just went to Starbucks to grab some caramel macchiato. But I did not have Swiss Francs with me, so I asked the barista if I would pay with euros ? Then yes they allowed me to pay with euros. And the price was double compared to Starbucks in the Netherlands. Hahahahahha but that was okay.
I took a walk to Rathaus, Lindenhoff, then to the Grossmusnter of Zurich. I met and had a deep conversation with the local grandpa. Even though we had a language barrier and we understood each other while watching another grandpa play Que Sera Sera with a harp. Thank you for the time and the conversation we had that day. It was such a good vibes to have met you. I took several photos during this hot day before I went for lunch. I bought some food for lunch before I went to the Zurich park with a scenery of the Zurich lake in front of me. It was so local, Lol.
I just sat and walked around the lake then it was already night, and we went back to where our bus was parked and waited for it to take us back to our countries. See you in a bit Zurich. Hope I can be back there again someday.
Liebe Grusse,
Elviera 💙
