Salzburg, the City of Music
“Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius.”
Woflgang Amadeus Mozart
Salzburg Castle
It was a rainy early morning when we arrived in the sounds of music city, Salzburg. Salzburg is the last destination of our Winter Wonderland journey. It was a famous musical city in Austria where the musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and created all his greatest classic music we could ever hear.
We arrived after 3 hours by bus from Graz. The bus stop was around 1,5 kilometers to the City Center of Salzburg. We zipped in our jackets to prevent the wind from coming into our body. It is still early in the morning, with rain and snow.We stopped to buy a cup of Coffee and bread for our breakfast.
Mozart’s Wohnhaus
Our first destination was Mozart Wohnhaus or home where Mozart lived. It was a white building with 2 floor in the city center of Salzburg. We went inside the house for a tour. There were his Piano, Violins and several pictures of him. Before we headed to the Salzburg Castle and Mozart Geburtshaus. We went to the Mirabell Gardens.
Setting Location of The Sounds of Music Film (Mirabell Garden)
Mirabell Gardens was a location from the famous movie Sounds of Music. We came in the wrong season, and we could not witness the beautiful garden as it was in Spring or Summer. But glad that we went to the green botanical garden. It was a beautiful botanical garden with a lot of flowers and plants. And it also has a pool with an orange fish.
We continue our steps to the Mozart Geburtshaus or Mozart’s birthplace. The 5th yellow floor buildings. It was in the area under Salzburg castle. So sad we could not be able to visit the building because his birthplace was in the 3 rd floor of the building and there was a supermarket in the first floor of the building. We went to the market around the location and we went to Mc Donald to have our lunch.
Mozart’s Geburtshaus
After lunch we went straight to the Salzburg museum and where the Statue of Mozart took place. There was a Christmast market near the Museum. We went inside to the one of the Cathedral because Yonna wants to Pray. I waited for her in the back. We went out and bought some of the signature bread in Salzburg. It is called Salzburger brezen. It is a big pastry with chocolate.

Salzburger Breezen and Inside the Cathedral
We wanted to go up to the Castle but we had our suitcase in our hand and it was not possible to carry it up to the Castle. So sad but we could not leave our suitcase behind. Also we did not find a place to keep our suitcase safe. We took several pictures in the corner of the sounds of music city. We kept strolling around and saw the marching band play and celebrate the new year eve in the city center.
Musical Theater and a glimpse of Salzburg City
We waited for our bus that will bring us to the Airport. Our flight to the Netherlands was actually 9.00 PM. And we will arrive in Rotterdam around 11:00 PM. Then we will head straight to Ede, Wageningen to spend our New Year Eve there along with the other girls who are waiting for us.
Tips :
Wear thick and comfortable clothes during the trips.
Wear a waterproof booth to prevent the water and snow.
Do not carry your suitcase around or you may not be able to go up to the Castle.
Sincerely,
Elviera 💙
