WHAT IS ADULTING ?
“Life is a long lesson in humility” - unknown
Hi, what do you think when you hear about adulting ? Maybe for several people, adulting may have a different meaning. It may be happy, hectic, sad or challenging. I have lived most of my life. Been through so many things. But life must go on. Adulting is hard. Growing up from a teenager, full support and comfort zone, we move forward to being independent.
When we were younger, our parents still provided for our needs. But as we grow older and adult, they no longer support our needs 100%. It happened for several people, but to other people also, their parents never supported them in the first place. Sometimes being adults, we are the ones who should support them. Yes, it is called adulting by some people.
After graduating from university, our life may change. We are no longer students, but we have something to dream and hope for ourselves. Our mindset has changed into a mature one. Being independent human beings, at the same time we realized that absolutelly nobody cares about us, we have to deal with ourselves and see how the world works around us. In the world we live in, being a good person is not enough. It is sad to say but that is how life rules. World not revolve around us.
As we enter the work life that we dream to be great. But in reality, work life makes you realize that is not what you think hahahaha. Being smart, capable, and hardworking you are still powerless compared to someone who is pretty, has privilege and has a good family background or maybe in a bad words I can say cunning. We would never know what person you are actually faced with in your work life. I just wanna say that life can be so cruel and unfair for several persons and reasons. But we could not escape from that reality, we just have to face it, keep going, live it and we need to survive in it.
As you grow older, you build your own career and enjoy your work life. On the other hand, society life is demanding too. When most of your friends and family in your age start to build a family on their own (being married), they think that we need to do that also. But sometimes, being in a relationship is not as easy as they told and had experienced it. We are different people with different personalities and problems. We could not compare our life to others. They never know what we have been through. This is our life and they do not have a privilege to rule it nor to ruin it. As a grownup woman myself, I always consider everything before deciding my actions.
Adulting also taught me how to be a sincere person in everything, yourself, family, work life, and society. Getting to know ourselves is the easiest part but also the hardest part. The process of accepting our good and bad sides, then we can be able to decide what suits the best for ourselves. Be realistic yet follow your heart. Because, as we get older, our circle becomes narrow too. We keep only 3-4 good friends to be around. We filter the best people to stay by outside. And believe me, that is more than enough. As well as our relationships with someone. We do not search someone only for their looks, what they wear or to have fun with. But we are looking for someone who is independent and capable of accepting us whoever we are. Someone who can lean on, hear on, cry on and walk on. We are looking for the right person to be with. But, before we find that right person, oftenly we have a hard broken heart. We need a really long time to move on and heal ourselves. The letting go process took a year for some other people too. It is just that our time is yet to come. There will be someone who values us someday.
The conclusion is, we cannot skip nor escape the adulting phase in our life. It is a phase that every human being will have, still on going to handle it, or already survived from it. Enjoy every moment with your loved ones as this process will pass us. We just lived once, and we could not turn back time. Live your life fullest. And I hope we can pass this process nicely and sincerely. Just remember that we have our GOD Allah SWT to believe in.
Sincerely,
Elviera💛
