De Kaashuis van Gouda

“Sunshine is life’s way of saying Cheese to life”Unknown

It was in the Spring day when my friend and I decided to visit where cheese and stroopwafel were famous for, Gouda city. Gouda was located between Rotterdam and Utrecht, in the province of South Holland. We spent our Saturday in this city.

We met in Utrecht Centraal Station. Since mbak Endah lived in Baarn while I lived in Vinkeveen. Gouda was not that far from where we lived. And we really want to explore the city in this good spring vibes. We bought our morning coffee and a Croissant at Albert Heijn in the Station.

Our train arrived and we went straight inside because it was cold even though it was already Spring. It took approximately 1 hour from Utrecht to Gouda Centraal. We need to walk for 500 meters to the city center of Gouda. There were many cheese shops, cafes and restaurants in the city center. It is also a Gothic city hall that was built in the 15th century in the middle of the Gouda city center.

Cheese market was on every Tuesday. Since we came on the weekend, we could not see the cheese market. But that was fine because we went from 1 cheese shop to the others. We tasted  different kinds of cheeses. There were a lot. I wasn't really into cheese actually, but it was really fine for me to taste a little bit. Gouda cheese originally had a round shape with yellow orange color. The big one was around:140mm x 105mm x 105mm x 40mm. 12kg Organic Yellow Wheel, Light Yellow Wheel and Black Wheel. And Holland also offered differecnt flavor of cheese. There were  cumin, chili, mushroom, pesto, basil, oregano and others flavor you found in the Cheese shops around the Netherlands. We also bought Cheese at the end of our cheese tour.

After being satisfied with all the cheese tours, we moved forward to explore Gouda city further. Gouda city is like other cities in the Netherlands. A brown square shaped house, cafes, canals, and bicycles. We went to the St. John’s Church. Or in Dutch was called Sint Janskerk, is a large Gothic church, known especially for its stained glass windows, for which it has been placed on the list of the top 100 Dutch monuments. I was stunned by its old and magical architecture from the outside. It feels like I was in the Wizarding World Lol. It also rained that day. But we always carried our umbrellas everywhere.

We took several pictures and sat on the bench of the garden beside the Church and ate our snack. We had spicy bakmi, fruits and pringles while chatting. Before we went back to the station we went shopping for a little bit hahahaha. It has always been nice to spend time with your friend to see new things and go to new places. And it would be better if we could meet with a new person. And we can learn something from them or it. See you in another strolling story from me.
